Job description

RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum

  • About Facility:
    • Address: Cornelius - 1130 Tree of Life Lane, Cornelius, NC 28031
    • 33 Beds
    • No Trauma Designation
    • Not a Teaching Hospital
    • Not a Chest Pain Center
    • Not currently Stroke accredited
    • Radius rule: Travelerโ€™s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
  • Unit Information:
    • Beds: 2 triage rooms; 4 LDRs; 9 Mother Baby; C-section suite
    • Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months of LDRP experience
    • Will you accept a first-time traveler? No
  • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
    • LDRP
    • GYN surgical
  • Patient Ratios:
    • RN: AWHONN Guidelines
  • Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
    • RN: BLS, ACLS, EFM, NRP โ€“ Resource Team requirement
  • Skills required:
    • RN: Experience with all aspects of LDRP patient care, circulating c-sections, experience with newborn care to include heel sticks, 24 hr. testing, NAS scoring, lactation support; postpartum care, Newborn resuscitation (NRP)
    • Must have the skillset to work LDRPย 
  • Support within the Department:
    • OB Surg Tech โ€“ 1 per shift
    • Receptionist/HUC โ€“ patient registration, visitor mgmt. and unit secretary duties
    • Charge nurse
    • Case Managerย 
    • RT, 24/7
    • Hospitalist or OB Physician, 24/7
    • Pediatrician
    • Lactation Consultants โ€“ Not hired yet as this is a . and new facility
    • Nurses Station and bedside fetal monitoring
  • Technology/Equipment:
    • EMR: EPIC
    • IV Pump: Alaris
    • Med dispensing: Omnicell
    • Monitors: Phillips
    • Panda Warmer, GE monitors/OBIX central monitoring
  • Floating:
    • Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
    • If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
    • Within region and scope of practice
    • Will be required to float per region needs โ€“ will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice โ€“ย DECLINE if not agreeable
  • Orientation (facility and unit):
    • NEO
    • 2 days departmental
  • Scheduling:
    • Standardized for Resource Team -
    • Weekend rotation: every other
    • No call for travelers
    • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
    • RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays โ€“ must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
    • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
  • Other notes:
    • Scrub Color: Navy Blue scrubs or business casual to/from work; hospital issued scrubs while at work
    • Parking: Free
