What is a pallet delivery independent contractor?

A Pallet Delivery Independent Contractor is a self-employed driver responsible for transporting palletized goods between businesses, warehouses, or distribution centers. They typically use their own vehicle, such as a box truck or flatbed, to complete deliveries on a contract basis. Unlike company drivers, they have control over their schedule and workload but must handle expenses like fuel, maintenance, and insurance. This role requires reliability, good time management, and the ability to load and unload pallets safely. Many contractors work with freight brokers or logistics companies to find consistent delivery opportunities.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a pallet delivery independent contractor?

To thrive as a Pallet Delivery Independent Contractor, you need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), a safe driving record, experience operating pallet jacks and lift gates, and knowledge of route planning. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, electronic proof-of-delivery (ePOD) apps, and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations is also important. Strong customer service, time management, and problem-solving skills set top performers apart in this position. These skills ensure timely, safe deliveries, positive client interactions, and efficient management of logistical challenges in an independent, fast-paced work environment.

What are the typical work hours and expectations for a pallet delivery independent contractor?

As a Pallet Delivery Independent Contractor, your work hours can vary depending on your client agreements and delivery schedules, with many routes starting early in the morning to ensure timely delivery to businesses or warehouses. Most contractors set their own schedules to a degree but should expect some long days, especially during peak seasons or when routes cover a larger distance. The job requires frequent loading and unloading of pallets, adherence to delivery windows, and accurate completion of required paperwork or digital logs. Clear communication with dispatchers, clients, and warehouse staff is key to resolving any delivery issues quickly. This flexibility and responsibility make the role ideal for motivated individuals who enjoy working independently and managing their own time.

Job description

Seeking CDL Driveaway Driver.

Get Paid to Drive Trucks Across North America. No Freight. No Trailers. Just You and the Road.

Alliance Driveaway Solutions is hiring experienced CDL drivers to join one of the fastest-growing truck relocation companies in North America. Instead of hauling freight, you'll physically drive a variety of vehicles β€” Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks, straight trucks, trailers, and more β€” from pickup to delivery across all 48 states and Canada. Every load is different. Every trip is a new route. If you're tired of the same highway and the same trailer, this is your lane.

What You'll Do

β€’ Pick up vehicles from designated locations and deliver them safely to their destinations

β€’ Operate a wide variety of equipment β€” no two weeks look the same

β€’ This is a 1099 Independent Contractor Position

What We Offer

β€’ Competitive payβ€” Your experience is valued and compensated

β€’ Home time β€” Create your own schedule and Choose what works for you!

β€’ Career training and development β€” Ongoing safety and skills training that keeps you sharp and growing

β€’ A culture of diversity, inclusion, and growth β€” We're a certified Small Woman-Owned Business that builds a team reflecting the roads we travel

What We Need From You

β€’ Valid CDL with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience (most of our drivers have 10+)

β€’ Clean background β€” our screening exceeds DOT-mandated requirements

β€’ Willingness to complete company-sponsored training and safety programs before your first run

β€’ Commitment to safety, transparency, and communication β€” the same values we hold ourselves to

Why Alliance?

We were founded by leaders who personally performed driveaway services. They've been in your seat. That's why we treat drivers as operating partners, not transactional labor. No distance is too far, and no driver is just a number. Led by CEO/Owner Lijun Ji and President/Owner Tate Lyda, we've spent 20+ years building a company that drivers want to stay with β€” and many do.
