Job description

Summary:
Building maintenance technicians complete a variety of maintenance and repair jobs, and typical duties can vary from day to day. Technicians may take care of landscaping and do basic janitorial work. They should be proficient in plastering, dry wall installation and painting. A building maintenance technician will be required to order supplies, maintain inventory and ensure all routine maintenance on Company Vehicles are completed.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Minor plumbing repairs including leaky or plugged faucets and pipes
  • Repair and erect wall partitions, shelves, fences, floors, doors and other related items
  • Routine carpentry work
  • Assists with routine maintenance of vehicles, including checking/replenishing fluids, checking tire pressure, cleaning, taking vehicles for repairs that cannot be made by Company staff
  • Moving furniture, equipment, supplies
  • Painting/decorating interior and exterior surfaces
  • Janitorial duties including cleaning residences, school and offices
  • Responds positively to requests for assistance by child care and treatment staff
  • Maintains routine records including all key distributions
  • Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Valid California driver's license and a car insurance
  • Driving record acceptable to the Company's insurance carrier
  • One or more years experience in institutional maintenance
  • Working knowledge of painting, carpentry, plumbing, automotive and welding skills
  • Proficient in inventory management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional, physical examination, and drug testing

Physical Requirements:
In the course of performing this job, the incumbent must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Frequent walking along slope hills, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, stooping, standing, twisting, climbing, crawling, reaching, walking, driving, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Occasional typing, running, writing, and sitting.
