Job description

Job Summary

AStain and Paint Technicianis a skilled trades professional responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing and applying paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes to achieve high-quality, durable results. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of color theory, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Surface Preparation:Clean, scrape, sand, or remove old finishes to prepare surfaces for painting or staining
  • Mixing and Matching:Prepare paints and stains to match color specifications, using correct ratios and equipment
  • Application:Apply finishes using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, or other tools, ensuring even coverage and desired texture
  • Quality Control:Inspect work for defects, rework as needed, and maintain consistent quality across projects.
  • Safety Compliance:Follow all safety guidelines, use PPE, and maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment
  • Inventory Management:Maintain supplies and equipment, and report shortages or malfunctions
  • Collaboration:Work with designers, clients, or supervisors to determine color, texture, and finish requirements
  • Minor Repairs:Perform small touch-ups, fill holes, or replace damaged materials

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5-6 years of understanding of paint and stain application techniques
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively
  • Familiarity with painting equipment (spray guns, mixers, rollers, etc.) and repairs
