PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Painter is responsible for ensuring that components are prepped and painted in accordance with provided technical data.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Perform surface preparation by chemical de-painting, mechanical de-painting, cleaning, buffing, sanding, blasting, and treating surfaces and parts. This includes paint removal, surface preparation, and surface treatment, blasting, and sanding on a variety of aircraft or aircraft components.
• Inspect masking to protect vital areas; inspect coatings and metal substrates for possible corrosion in compliance with acceptable standards, specifications and procedural requirements.
• Operate all abrasive and non-abrasive blasting equipment such as glass media, plastic media and water cleaning equipment.
• Paint various material types with various application methods.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
• Basic to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, schematics, and procedure manuals.
• Must be trustworthy - will handle confidential information routinely
• Ability to follow a process safely and efficiently
• Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
• Must be able to communicate issues to management.
• Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures Ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Trade School Graduate with 3-year technical experience
