Job description

Mandel is searching for a full-time apartment Maintenance Apprentice to complete our team at North End in Downtown Milwaukee, WI. 

Applicants for the Maintenance Apprentice position should have an interest in skilled trades, as they work not only on curb appeal and grounds duties, but also on building exterior maintenance and interior upkeep at the apartment community. This position will include responsibility for keeping all common areas clean and sanitized. Individuals who are highly motivated and work well in a team, as well as with limited supervision, are preferred. The Maintenance Apprentice provides professional and courteous entry-level maintenance and custodian services to Mandel residents through timely completion of work order requests and maintaining great curb appeal for both residents and prospective residents. The Maintenance Apprentice is an integral part of the apartment community team, and contributes to the overall property initiatives to enhance operations.

General Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • General maintenance and upkeep of apartment community (trash pick up, pet waste pick up, cleaning common areas, etc.), common area upkeep and building exterior upkeep (painting, sweeping, removing of items, etc.);
  • Assist in overall efforts to enhance curb appeal and retention of residents;
  • Perform preventive maintenance as required;
  • Perform light maintenance work order requests, as required;
  • Assist in identifying life safety issues or other potential liabilities at the site;
  • Strive to continuously meet or exceed resident satisfaction.

In order to be successful in this position, the following are recommended skills and/or requirements:

  • Possess excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • Entry level knowledge of skilled trades or interest in learning about skilled trades (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, appliance repairs, etc.);
  • Ability to work independently or as a team;
  • Ability to work first shift and potentially working weekends, as requested.
