Frazer, a leading builder of emergency medical vehicles, is currently seeking a Paint Buffer to join our team. The Paint Buffer at Frazer reports to the Production Paint Manager, and is responsible for buffing painted large vertical panels with the required outcome of eliminating defects such as orange peel, debris, and underbuff.
This position is expected to actively live out Frazer Core Values while working with Frazer employees, vendors, and customers to help achieve team, department, and corporate goals. Responsible for learning and reinforcing safe and proper work procedures while actively following Frazer Safety programs and other policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
What Does a Week in the Life of the Paint Buffer Look Like?
  1. Reads work order, or receives instructions from supervisor regarding prep work.
  2. Sands with 1500, 2000, and 3000 grit sandpaper.
  3. Applies proper buffing techniques i.e., heating up panel, cross-hatching.
  4. Identifies and removes under buff and debris using a Sunlight tool and polisher.
  5. Tapes and covers trim edges with masking tape to protect non buffed surfaces before polishing.
  6. Observes and follows safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
  7. Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
  8. Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Must be able to read and write basic English
  • Must be able to work in the US legally
  • Must be able to pass an observed drug test
  • Must pass a Pulmonary Function Test
  • Must have at least 3 months of buffing experience
  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Body work experience
  • Tape/masking experience
  • Principles, practices and procedures of prepping

Oh, and $alary
Of course, we didn't forget salary... Frazer offers competitive pay and this role will start with a salary between $18.00 - $ 21.00 hourly depending on education, certifications, and experience.
Work Schedule
The Paint Buffer will work Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Late afternoon/evening/weekend hours may be required as needed. Work schedules may change to accommodate production needs.
