Job description

We love our jobs. Do you? Join our team as a Painter-Refinisher located in the esteemed Architect of the Capitol, Library Buildings & Grounds, Tenant Services Division, Projects Branch, Painting Night Section. As a Painter-Refinisher you will be responsible for refinishing doors, door frames and other woodwork. You will participate in projects involving historical colors, complex striping, designs and panel refinishing.
Qualifications:

You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the job announcement.

You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position.

Ability to perform Painter-Refinisher duties and responsibilities without more than normal supervision including: 

  • Using a computerized maintenance management system (e.g., WebTMA) to receive, update, and close work orders, accurately document work performed, and track materials and job status;
  • Safely prepare and repair historic wood surfaces, demonstrated through proper use of stripping methods, sanding techniques, and repair practices that preserve original detailing;
  • Independently performing wood finishing and refinishing tasks including applying stains, varnishes, oils, paints, and protective coatings; and
  • Producing a final finish that matches an existing or documented sample for color, grain, and sheen, and overall appearance.
