Job description

As a Material Handler in our team, you'll be the heartbeat of our production process, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of work under the guidance of your manager. Your role will be diverse and dynamic, from moving materials to their next operation point, to ensuring our facility remains clean, safe, and environmentally friendly. You'll be the master of material movement, both inside and outside our facility, handling everything from raw materials to finished goods.

Your day-to-day tasks will involve loading and unloading trucks, moving goods around the facility, and ensuring they're securely stored in the right bays. You'll also be responsible for maintaining our equipment, including daily forklift inspections and recharging. Quality control will be a key part of your role, examining products to ensure they meet our high standards.

You'll also have a hand in keeping our paint booth and its components clean, and you'll be an integral part of our lean and 5S initiatives. This role is ever-evolving, adapting to our business needs, and offering you a chance to make a real impact in our operations.
 

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  •  Per shop routing, move material to subsequent operations
  •  Empty chip containers into correct hoppers
  •  Move raw materials as instructed to machines
  •  Maintain clean, safe, environmentally friendly work environment
  •   Obtain and maintain copy of production schedule and transports material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility
  •   Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as trucks
  •   Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the facility (interior and exterior)
  •   Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
  •   Checking loads are secure
  •   Stacking empty pallets
  •   Performing daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck's battery and lubricating equipment, daily inspection of forklift
  •   Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards
  •   Cleaning of paint booth, paint booth components, chains, slings, hooks, cabinets, and any other items as instructed by manager
  •   Follow all lean and 5S initiatives as instructed by manager
  •   Any other items as deemed necessary and job description may change as business needs change

You display a can-do attitude in good and bad times.  You carefully consider all relevant factors and use appropriate decision-making criteria and principles. You apply knowledge of internal structures, processes, and culture to resourcing effort. 
 

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • The ability to frequently lift up to 35 pounds regularly and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
  • Use of hands
  • Able to work from floor level to 15 ft. with no restrictions
  • Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck
  • Having a good sense of balance
  • Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
  • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
      

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • 5+ years of material handling experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Carpentry Experience and use of tools for building large shipping creates and containers
