Job description

Production Hand Spray Technician - skilled in the manual application of paints / coatings in a manufacturing or industrial environment. This role relies heavily on manual dexterity and hand coordination to ensure even, high-quality finishes.

Work in industrial paint booths. This role involves exposure to paint fumes, airborne particles and chemicals.

*****This is for the American Autocoat plant at 3829 Roger B Chaffee Mem. Drive, Grand Rapids, MI (Plant is physically located off 44th and Division, right between Kentwood and Wyoming)

Job Summary

Hand Spray Technician is responsible for applying decorative coatings using manual spray equipment. This requires a high level of precision, a steady hand, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while following safety and quality standards.

  • 1st shift opportunities: Working (4) 10 hr shifts 4a-2p M-Th. 2 openings
  • 1st shift opportunity: Working (4) 10 hr shift 530a-330p 1 openings This technician will also load / unload parts as part of duties

Responsibilities include:

  • Coating Application: Operate hand-held spray guns (such as HVLP or conventional systems) to apply primers, base coats, and clear coat finishes.
  • Understanding of Paint Mixing
  • Quality Control: Inspect painted products for defects like runs, sags, mottling, uneven thickness and make adjustments as needed to meet customer quality specifications.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Disassemble, clean, and reassemble spray guns and nozzles, change hoses and perform light preventive maintenance on paint booth equipment.
  • Safety: Follow safety regulations and company safety protocols, including the consistent use of PPE (respirators, gloves, and paint suits).
