Job Title: Prime Painter

Job Description

The Prime Painter prepares, mixes, and applies industrial coatings to a variety of parts and metals in accordance with detailed specifications and thickness requirements. This role performs all stages of the painting process, from surface preparation through post-paint inspection, while maintaining paint equipment, keeping the booth clean and free of foreign object debris, and following strict safety and PPE guidelines in a fast-paced.

Responsibilities

• Mix and measure paint according to specifications and work orders, ensuring the correct paint and part match before painting.
• Clean and prepare parts in line with specification requirements prior to painting.
• Paint parts in a booth to the specified coverage and thickness on different surfaces and metals.
• Perform post-paint inspection of parts to verify proper appearance, coverage, and adherence to specifications.
• Change paint booth filters regularly and keep the booth free of foreign object debris (FOD).
• Complete all required paperwork and the daily paint checklist accurately and on time.
• Maintain all paint equipment to ensure proper operation and quality output.
• Apply advanced painting skills to adapt to complex or non-routine situations in industrial and aerospace environments.
• Observe all safety regulations and wear protective masks, respirators, and clothing during spray painting operations.
• Properly utilize all personal protective equipment (PPE) required under OSHA guidelines.
• Work effectively on a graveyard shift schedule from Sunday to Thursday, 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM.
• Perform other painting-related duties as assigned to support production needs.

Essential Skills

• Experience mixing and measuring paint accurately according to detailed specifications.
• Proficiency in industrial painting and prime painting techniques, including spray application.
• Ability to paint effectively on different surfaces and metals while meeting coverage and thickness requirements.
• Hands-on experience with HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray equipment or similar industrial painting tools.
• Capability to read and follow work orders and technical specifications for paint type, color, and application.
• Strong attention to detail for pre-paint preparation and post-paint inspection of parts.
• Commitment to following safety regulations and properly using PPE under OSHA guidelines.
• Ability to work consistently and efficiently in a fast-paced, graveyard-shift environment.
• Willingness to be trained on respirator use and adhere to all respirator safety protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in industrial painting environments, including aerospace or similar industries.
• Familiarity with paint prep processes, including cleaning and preparing parts to specification.
• Experience maintaining paint booths, filters, and painting equipment.
• Comfort working in areas where fumes from chemicals and paint are present, with appropriate PPE.
• Ability to adapt painting techniques to complex or non-routine situations.
• Reliability and strong work ethic suited to long-term, stable employment.

Work Environment

The role is based in an industrial paint booth and production setting where fumes from chemicals and paint are present, and proper PPE, including masks, respirators, and protective clothing, is required at all times. The environment is fast paced, with a graveyard shift schedule from Sunday to Thursday, 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM. Work involves standing for extended periods, operating HVLP and other industrial painting equipment, maintaining booth cleanliness and filters, and following OSHA safety guidelines throughout each shift.

This is a Permanent position based out of Seattle, WA.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Seattle,WA.
