Landing Gear Technologies is an FAA Certified Repair Station specializing in the repair and overhaul of aircraft landing gears and components. Painter Technicians report to the Lead Painter Technician for their assigned department and are responsible for assuring all assigned tasks are executed correctly and in accordance with FAR, current manufacturers' instructions, and this manual as applicable. Painter Technicians are also responsible for ascertaining the shop equipment and tooling used during the assigned tasks, making sure they are in a serviceable working condition, and maintain workstations in a clean and orderly manner. They are to ensure the technical data is correct and current pertaining to the task being performed and that required work records are properly executed.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain paint equipment, mix paint, paint control.
  • Perform stop-off at required areas per paint schematics, apply primer, and apply top coat to landing gear.
  • Maintain paint booth and environmental logs.
  • Perform surface preparation of component for final inspection, including sealing of bushings, stenciling, and application of corrosion preventatives.
  • Execute minor polishing on major components for final inspection.
  • Ability to independently perform all paint functions in a landing gear overhaul facility.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to use all necessary close tolerance measurement instruments with proficiency.
  • Properly executing the duties assigned.
  • Performing maintenance and alteration tasks, including machining operations, on civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers' Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, Service Letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA / EASA.
  • Ensuring that before performing their assigned task that they are thoroughly familiar with all tools and equipment, including inspection aids, used within their assigned area of responsibility.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in English.ย 
  • Good written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to perform job functions with little or no supervision.
  • Experience operating equipment and performing maintenance/machining operations per technical drawings and Manufacturer's Repair/Overhaul instructions.ย 
  • Prior experience in working in an FAA / EASA Certificated Repair Station Operation.

Physical Requirements:ย 

  • Must have normal color vision.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, push, reach and kneel.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Use of PPE and respirators for extended periods.
  • Contact with sealants and solvents, exposure to noise.
  • Handle, use, and dispose of hazard material.
  • As required by the position, must have the ability to wear a respirator as per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 "Respirator Protection" regulations with no restrictions that would prevent proper use and/or seal the respirator.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, and hearing protection) with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.ย
