Job description

Black Bear Talent is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Paint Line Crew Member to support daily operations within a manufacturing paint line environment. This position is responsible for preparing, loading, coating, inspecting, packaging, and maintaining metal products and paint line equipment to ensure high-quality finished products and efficient production flow. The ideal candidate works well in a team environment, follows safety and quality standards, and is comfortable working with industrial equipment, powder coatings, and production machinery.

Hours are : Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Load and unload parts and assemblies onto the chain conveyor system.
  • Establish proper part spacing, hook placement, fixturing, and masking requirements based on manufacturing documentation.
  • Prepare products for painting by wiping down, blowing off, masking, and staging materials as required.
  • Set up boxes, skids, cardboard, and other packaging materials for transport or storage.
  • Adjust conveyor speed and production settings for proper treatment and coating application based on paint type and production requirements.
  • Operate powder coating, spray application, and dust collection equipment.
  • Mix paints, chemicals, and coating materials according to specifications.
  • Operate and monitor the three-stage wash system, including chemical levels and temperature controls.
  • Operate bake ovens and exhaust systems to maintain proper curing temperatures.
  • Inspect coated products and perform color, adhesion, scratch, and mil thickness tests to verify quality standards.
  • Report defects or quality concerns observed before, during, or after the painting process.
  • Maintain production quality and accurate production records.
  • Clean and maintain paint line equipment, wash tanks, nozzles, ovens, dust collectors, baghouses, hooks, and conveyor components.
  • Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble paint system components as needed.
  • Assemble parts into larger assemblies when required.
  • Operate forklifts and use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform routine safety inspections and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Assist other team members and departments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing or industrial production experience preferred.
  • Experience with powder coating, spray painting, or paint line operations is a plus.
  • Ability to operate production machinery and industrial equipment safely.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturing instructions and specifications.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use measuring tools and perform quality inspections.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, chemicals, noise, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

This position works in an industrial manufacturing environment involving paint systems, ovens, conveyors, chemicals, and powered equipment. Safety procedures and PPE requirements must be followed at all times.
