Job description

Shop Utility / Painter Assistant

Entry Level – Start Here. Learn Everything.

Accurate Forklift is looking for a dependable, hard-working person who isn't afraid to get dirty, pitch in wherever needed, and learn along the way.

Established in 1999, Accurate Forklift is the largest independent forklift dealer in the state of Georgia. We're based in East Point and continue to grow.

This is a true utility position. You won't spend every day doing the same thing, and you won't belong to just one area. You'll help wherever an extra set of hands is needed — paint, shop, warehouse, parts, outside cleanup and more.  One day you may help prep a forklift for paint, clean up a grease spill, strip wire, gather supplies, sweep the parking lot and make a parts delivery — sometimes all in the same day.

This is hands-on work. It can be dirty. It can be physical. And for the right person, it's an opportunity to be exposed to nearly every part of our operation and learn skills that can lead to more responsibility over time.

Starting Pay: $16.00 per hour

What You'll Do & Learn

Depending on what needs to be done that day, you may:

  • Help keep the paint, prep and shop areas clean and organized
  • Clean up grease, oil, dirt, trash and other shop messes
  • Sweep and clean shop areas, warehouse areas and the parking lot
  • Assist our painter with sanding, scraping, cleaning, masking and preparing forklifts and parts for paint
  • Wash forklifts, parts and components
  • Strip wire and assist with sorting or processing materials
  • Gather, move and organize parts, tools and supplies
  • Assist with inventory and warehouse projects
  • Make local parts or supply deliveries
  • Move equipment and learn to safely operate forklifts
  • Assist technicians and other departments with basic tasks
  • Help with cleanup and organization projects inside and outside
  • Learn basic mechanical skills and other aspects of the forklift business
  • Handle other duties as needed

This list is intentionally broad. The utility person is there to help where help is needed.

Who We're Looking For

Experience is not required. We're much more interested in your attitude, dependability and willingness to learn.

The right person:

  • Isn't afraid to get dirty
  • Doesn't mind doing the unglamorous jobs that still need to get done
  • Likes working with their hands
  • Is willing to work indoors and outdoors
  • Shows up on time and can be counted on
  • Follows directions and pays attention when someone is teaching them
  • Accepts coaching and correction as part of learning
  • Can work independently after being shown what to do
  • Is willing to help different departments instead of saying, "That's not my job"
  • Takes pride in doing even the small jobs well
  • Is interested in learning new skills and taking on more responsibility over time

If you're willing to work, willing to learn and willing to get your hands dirty, we can teach you a lot.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to lift and handle up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to squat, kneel, bend, push, pull and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in various shop and outdoor weather conditions
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and equipment after training
  • Willingness to follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE
  • Basic mechanical ability is helpful, but not required

Schedule

Full-Time – Monday through Friday
Generally 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Eight-hour workday

Benefits

Full-time employees are eligible for a competitive benefits package, including:

  • Medical Insurance
