Job Description
Allied Universal® Janitorial Services, an Allied Universal® Company, is hiring a Metal - Apprentice 1. The Metal Apprentice 1 will perform cleaning and maintenance for various metals as prescribed by routine and custom metal maintenance programs. Allied Universal Janitorial Services is a Union signatory, in good standing, of the Painters District Council No. 14 IUPAT, AFL-CIO. On the job training is provided.

Metal Division is hiring for a Apprentice
Wage is $22.12 / hour, Monday - Friday, 5:00pm - 1:30am
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform skilled metal refinishing work, including surface preparation, grinding, sanding, polishing, coating, painting, and corrosion control in accordance with division standards
  • Inspect metal components and structures to assess condition, determine refinishing requirements, and recommend appropriate repair or treatment methods
  • Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and refinishing equipment; ensure proper use of materials and adherence to safety protocols
  • Coordinate assigned work activities and provide day-to-day direction, guidance, and oversight to an assistant journeyman or apprentice
  • Ensure all assigned work tickets are accurately completed, reviewed, and signed in a timely manner in accordance with departmental procedures
  • Maintain responsibility for an assigned work truck, including cleanliness, inventory of tools and materials, basic inspections, and reporting maintenance needs
  • Transport tools, materials, and personnel to job sites as required
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors to coordinate work and resolve issues
  • Comply with all safety regulations, environmental requirements, and departmental policies
  • Document completed work, materials used, and labor hours as required

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized journeyman-level apprenticeship program in metal maintenance
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to operate an assigned work truck
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in metal maintenance
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision and managing assigned tasks from start to completion
  • Demonstrated experience performing metal refinishing work, including surface preparation, coating, painting, polishing, and corrosion control
  • Working knowledge of shop and field safety practices, including proper handling of tools, equipment, chemicals, and materials
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow work tickets, basic drawings, specifications, and oral and written instructions
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including lifting, standing, bending, climbing, and working in varied environmental conditions
  • Strong attention to quality, detail, and workmanship

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):
  • Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Industrial Technology or similar fields.
  • College coursework in welding, HVAC, sheet metal fabrication, blueprint reading, layout, hydraulics, and pneumatics
