What is paid training in medical coding?

Paid training in medical coding refers to programs where individuals are compensated while they learn the skills necessary to become a medical coder. These programs typically cover subjects like medical terminology, anatomy, coding guidelines, and the use of coding systems such as ICD-10 and CPT. Paid training can be offered by healthcare employers, coding companies, or specialized training providers, and may lead to certification and employment. Participants gain practical experience and receive a salary or hourly wage during the training period. This pathway is ideal for those new to the field who want to earn an income while gaining essential skills.

What can I expect during the paid training period for a medical coding role?

During the paid training period for a Medical Coding position, you can expect a structured curriculum that covers medical terminology, coding systems (such as ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS), and compliance with healthcare regulations. Training often combines classroom instruction with hands-on practice using real or simulated medical records. You'll work closely with experienced coders, trainers, and sometimes healthcare professionals to learn how to accurately assign codes and resolve common documentation issues. This period is designed to build your foundational knowledge and prepare you for certification exams and on-the-job responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a paid training medical coding specialist?

To excel as a Paid Training Medical Coding specialist, you need a foundational understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding systems, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with coding software like ICD-10, CPT, and EHR systems is typically required, and certifications such as CPC or CCS can enhance job prospects. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong organizational skills help ensure accurate code assignment and efficient workflow. These skills are vital for maintaining precise medical records, supporting billing processes, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

Paid Training Medical Coding focuses on teaching individuals how to assign medical codes for diagnoses and procedures, often with certification support. Medical Billing involves submitting claims and managing payments. Both roles are essential in healthcare revenue cycle management, but coding emphasizes understanding medical records, while billing centers on claims processing and payment follow-up.

Can I get a paid training medical coding job with no experience?

Paid training medical coding jobs often accept candidates with little or no prior experience, as they typically include comprehensive training programs to teach coding principles, software, and industry standards. However, some employers may prefer or require basic knowledge of medical terminology or healthcare procedures, and obtaining certifications like CPC can improve job prospects after training. Entry-level positions are designed to help newcomers develop the necessary skills for a career in medical coding.

Job description

Description:

Outside Sales Representative – Uncapped Commission | $60K–$120K+ OTE | Company Vehicle Included | PURCOR | Responsible Pest Control | Las Vegas Pest Control | Bug Masters | Jarrod’s

This Isn't a Job. It's Your Territory to Run. At Certus Home Services, our Outside Sales Professionals have the opportunity to build and grow their own territory while being supported by an established, growing home services organization. You'll receive an assigned territory, company vehicle, lead opportunities, structured training, and a proven sales process. From there, your performance drives your earning potential and opportunities for advancement. If you're motivated by results, enjoy building relationships, and want the freedom to manage your business while controlling your earning potential, we want to talk to you.

Why You'll Want This Job

  • Uncapped Earnings: $60K–$120K+ OTE, with our top OSPs earning significantly more
  • Commission You Can Actually Explain: Earn 20% commission on recurring service sales, plus up to an additional 25% in performance bonuses and revenue kickers for top producers. No confusing math, just more upside the better you perform
  • Company Vehicle, Fuel Card, Uniforms, and Boots: Provided from day one, keep the miles and wear off your own car and your own wallet
  • Full Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, company-paid disability and life insurance, PTO
  • Real Territory, Real Pipeline: An assigned territory plus the ability to build and own your own book of business
  • Paid, Structured Training: Learn our sales process, our products, and our systems, you don't need pest control experience to start strong
  • A Real Path to Leadership: We promote from the field, because that's where we find our best leaders
  • Essential-Industry Stability: Pest control is a recession-resistant, always-in-demand service, your income isn't tied to the economic cycle

What Winning Looks Like

This role is measured like a business, not a task list:

  • Hit and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets
  • Respond to 95%+ of leads within 24 hours — speed wins deals
  • Maintain 98%+ accuracy in every proposal and contract — professionals don't leave money or trust on the table
  • Grow your territory's recurring revenue quarter over quarter through prospecting and upselling
  • Resolve customer issues fast, with zero repeat escalations — your reputation is your pipeline

Top-performing OSPs don't just hit these numbers — they get asked to lead teams. All of our Regional Sales Managers were previous OSP’s!

What You'll Do

  • Prospect, generate referrals, and develop your territory into a real book of business
  • Conduct property inspections and diagnose pest control needs like a professional, not a salesperson reading a script
  • Build and present customized service proposals to homeowners and businesses
  • Own the full sales cycle from first contact to signed deal to service kickoff
  • Upsell additional services that genuinely help the customer and grow your income
  • Follow up on every lead fast and consistently, most deals are won or lost in the follow-up, not the pitch
  • Partner with our operations team to make sure every customer's first service experience is a great one

Requirements:

    You'll Thrive Here If You...

  • Think like an owner — you want a territory and a pipeline to build, not a shift to clock
  • Track your own numbers because you want to win, not because someone's checking
  • Can close, not just present — you know the difference between "no" and "not yet"
  • Sweat the unglamorous details daily — fast follow-up, accurate paperwork, disciplined prospecting
  • Have a valid driver's license (5+ years of driving experience) and can pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred, Not Required Previous outside sales or commission-based sales experience; background in home services, pest control, or another route-based industry. No pest control experience? We'll train you, what we can't train is drive. Ready to Run Your Own Territory? If you're ready to control your own income and build a real career, not just take a job, apply today. We review every application personally, and most candidates hear back within 24 hours. We're hiring now, and territories don't stay open long.
