Job description

School Bus Driver

Operates a school bus over designated routes in transporting students; and performs related work as required. License required: possession of a valid Medical Examiner Certificate. Possession of a valid and appropriate California Class B with PS (Passenger School Bus Endorsements) with driver's license. Possession of a valid and appropriate School Bus Driver's Certificate. Possession of a recent (30 days) Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving record. Possession of a valid Red Cross Standard CPR and California Highway Patrol First Aid certificate. Drives a school bus over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, picking up and discharging students.

This is a Substitute Bus Driver and Paid Trainee program with the next class scheduled for July 20, 2026 through July 29, 2026. In order to participate in this paid class, you must complete onboarding with Human Resources prior to July 20, 2026. For Bus Driver Trainee: Please include two character or professional references. The trainee will participate in class preparing for the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) DMV test and 20 hours of classroom instruction in preparation to test for a school bus driver certificate. Trainees will be given one-on-one behind the wheel training. Trainees average 30 to 40 hours to become proficient. A physical in order to qualify to take the DMV test for the CDL; DMV's four tests: Class B and C, Air Brakes, and Passenger School Bus Endorsements; CHP's interview and background check; CHP's two tests pertaining to the rules, regulations, first aid certificate, practical, and the District background check. The training classes are limited to the top applicants. If your application is accepted you will be notified by the email address in your application or by phone.
