New Jersey State Bar Foundation, Summer Legal Associate Internship - Summer 2026

(Newark Youth Engagement Center)

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Develop a public education project that will inform youth of their rights under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, New Jersey Family Leave Act and the Fair Chance in Housing Act.
  • Hold educational groups several times a week that may include mock trials, lectures or other interactive forums on legal matters of importance to young people ages 18-24 years old.
  • Create fun and engaging social activities that increase interest in the law and individual rights.
  • Review credit reports with program participants and lead credit repair work that needs to be completed.
  • Support the individual casework being conducted by the supervising Staff Attorney.
  • Work closely with supervising Staff Attorney up to and including court appearances.
  • Create a shared calendar that publishes all youth activities to promote rigorous youth engagement.
  • Document all contacts with youth consistently and accurately into ETO.
  • Attend all required staff meetings.
  • Answer all emails, phone calls and calendar invites in a timely fashion.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

*must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours/week for 10 weeks

* This is a Paid Internship with weekly earning of up to $1,000 a week
