Job description

Principle Responsibilities & Position Purpose:
The Bartender will prepare, mix, pour and garnish alcoholic and specialty drinks for guests at the bar. Responsible for the setup and break down of the bar area for each event. Needs to be thoroughly familiar with all alcoholic beverages and how to properly create them. Emphasis is based on caring and attentive employees who embrace the company's core values. Our property offers distinct entertainment venues including a spacious banquet hall, a nostalgically happening bar and restaurant, and a bustling outdoor bar and lounge, all within a beautifully appointed environment for our guests.

Position Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years restaurant or banquet experience required.
  • Be able to read and interpret BEO's.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of food and beverage etiquette, customer relations and service standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to analyze customer needs and assist in resolving any and all customer challenges.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
  • Set up bar according to the padre standards when opening and at start of shifts.
  • Completion of assigned pre-shift side work.
  • Check age verification of any guest under 30 years old who orders an alcoholic beverage. Ability to differentiate between valid and invalid identification.
  • Knowledge and execution of the safe sale of alcohol to include over intoxication.
  • Proper and professional greeting of guests upon arrival. Guests are greeted within two minutes of arrival at the bar.
  • Ability to interact with all guests in a friendly, hospitable manner.
  • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic merchandising of all food items, bar and beverage items, and retail items. Ability to pass tests on all items with a minimum score of 90% and ability to verbally communicate knowledge.
  • Knowledgeable about daily and happy hour specials.
  • Polish all glassware used for service in the bar.
  • Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to the padre recipes.
  • Prepare bar and beverage items for servers in a timely manner.
  • Coordination and proper timing of steps of food served in the bar using proper service sequence, timing and professionalism.
  • Closing side work completed to the padre standards.
  • Additional duties or special projects related to the overall operation of the restaurant as requested by management. A sense of urgency and follow-through is demonstrated in a timely manner regarding any assignment, task or special project assigned by management.
  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by
  • the Company from time to time, is essential to the successful performance in this position.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company

Example of Duties (this is a sampling and not an all-inclusive list):
  • Set up and break down of banquet rooms and meeting rooms according to instructions on BEO's.
  • Checks room set up prior to event and meets with Sales team and chef team to ensure all details are handled a head of time.
  • Communicate any additional guest requests to Sales Coordinator and management staff on duty.
  • Serve and present food to guests according to timeline on BEO.
  • Serve guests quickly, efficiently and with complete knowledge of the food and beverage offerings.
  • Completion of assigned pre-shift side work.
  • Coordination and proper timing of steps of service sequence within assigned event.
  • Ability to completely answer food and beverage related questions from guests.
  • Closing side work completed to the standards outlined on the side work sheet.
  • Additional duties or special projects related to the overall operation of the hotel as requested by management. A sense of urgency and follow-through is demonstrated in a timely manner regarding any assignment, task or special project assigned by management.

  • Ability to analyze customer needs and resolve any and all customer challenges.
  • Basic mathematical skills for cash-handling.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
  • Interpersonal skills to provide overall customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of drink recipes and drink and wine merchandising specials.
  • Knowledge of liquor laws and bar terminology.

  • Rate of Pay: $21.00 per hour
