Job description

Rad Tech/Pacs Specialist (7a-7p) Abingdon, Va

Job Description: Summary: Administers roentgen rays and radioactive substances to patients. Operates X-Ray Equipment, develops film, and prepares patient's room, equipment, supplies and medications. Provides patient services using imaging modalities. The radiologic technologist correlates and integrates radiologic aspects of care for all patients age ranging from neonate to geriatrics. Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays (adjusts equipment; determines proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time distance; arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patients; adjust lead shields; and selects proper film). Interacts with radiology management system and participates in other clerical activities to ensure smooth work flow and provide documentation for the patient charge. The Pacs Specialist works closely with unit managers to ensure timely and complete capture of Dicom digital image data into the Pacs system as well as network transmission, Ris validation, and exceptions handling. Works as a liaison between the Pacs vendor, other imaging vendors and the Pacs Administrator to resolve data transfer problems. Ensure staff is trained on Pacs and proper use of the system. The Pacs Specialist is responsible for coordination of training of employees and physicians. Maintain and assign user access codes as appropriate for an individual's job title.

Requirements: Associate of Science degree in Radiologic Technology and/or a graduate of Radiologic Technology Program (hospital based) recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Experience beyond technology training not required, however two years experience preferred. Salary will be based on experience in accordance with hospital policy.

Licenses and Certifications: Must be registered by ARRT.

The range for this position is $28.35-$40.43. Actual rate is dependent upon experience.
