Essential Duties and Tasks

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made, upon request, to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Packing Inspector Duties:

  • Examine the bags prior to packaging, to ensure quality standards are maintained at all times.

  • Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists.

  • Make sure that the correct number of bags are in each case.

  • Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.

  • Follow the instruction of the machine operator.

  • Responsible for reporting any problems seen during production including... bag construction, adhesives, print quality, loud or unusual noises from the machine and defective boxes or other materials.

  • Make sure that each case of finished product is being printed with a time/date code.

  • Packing Inspectorโ€™s will work on any and all machines' lines as needed or instructed by a supervisor or adjuster.

  • May be required to transfer finished products, raw materials, tools, or equipment between storage and work areas of plants and warehouses, by hand or using hand trucks or powered lift trucks.

  • Signal coworkers to direct them to move products during the production process.

Utility Duties

  • Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and notify operators of any malfunctions.

  • Make sure that ALL products on their machines are labeled correctly.

  • Help production workers by performing duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials or tools, and cleaning work areas and equipment.

  • Clean and lubricate equipment as instructed by a machine operator or supervisor. May also be required to go get supplies for normal operation and/or general maintenance such as rags, lubricants, tape, stretch film, cleaning solutions, etc...

  • Assisting the machine operator with print set-ups, machine size changes, normal operation and maintenance. This includes going to get ink and plates for prints, changing tapers and adhesive pads for the machine, changing print rollers, cleaning ink trays and getting boxes ready for product packaging.

  • Responsible for making sure that the bottom-paste pot has paste in it during operation.

  • Remove trash and debris from the production area during their shift to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

Exceptional attendance and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.

Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.

Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

Work primarily in a climate controlled indoor environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Hearing protection, safety shoes and vision protection required.

Employee is exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing area during extremely hot summer months.
