Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation's discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.
We are looking for a seasonal Forklift Operator I for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift performing multiple duties throughout pouch operations using multiple types of attachments for the transport of containers including pallets, drums and bins. Main tasks will be picking orders and loading/unloading of product into trucks. This role will be responsible for the put away and transfer of stock from one location to another using a variety of different forklift types, including electric and propane lifts at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. This is a seasonal position supporting our fresh pack season, typically June - October.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading trucks using the forklift and forklift variations.
  • Moving product safely and efficiently from one area to another as directed by Leads or other co-workers.
  • Supplying raw materials from storage areas to the correct production lines.
  • Disposing of recyclables, trash and waste in designated bins and/or trash receptacles.
  • Ensuring that each production line is supplied with the correct type and quantity of packaging material needed.
Requirements:
  • Forklift Certification and demonstrated experience to properly inspect and drive a forklift in a Production/Warehouse environment, in a safe manner.
  • Ability to operate stretch wrapping machines.
  • Ability to use radio frequency (RF) scanners and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
