JOB SUMMARY

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for and works with all packaging personnel to meet set objectives and KPI’s for their assigned stations productivity, efficiency, and organization of product quality, employee safety and food safety.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee and direct daily activities of assigned packaging shift employees such as Line Leads, Packaging machine Operators and Temporary workers
  • Responsible to assure that each order is according to customer specs or GDN product specs and labeling specification; trains line leads.
  • Responsible to assure that all shift production data is captured into GDA (portal) daily.
  • Involve daily communication with Operations Supervisor, Leads and all employees necessary in the operations process.
  • Plans, coordinates, advises and leads employees of work to be completed daily; helps strategizes as needed to ensure production.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by overseeing daily set up of machinery and equipment prior to production for efficient and effective operation.
  • Maintains product quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Monitor production process to ensure smooth flow. Receive and resolve operation problems for shift.
  • Monitor performance of bulk packing line employees to ensure they are meeting production targets/KPI’s.
  • Visually inspect products and/or operations to ensure quality of products inbound and outbound in packaging lines.
  • Filters info on planning changes for line leads; suggests (product inventory) based on schedule as needed to planner.
  • Give verbal and written reports daily to Operations Supervisor and any other personnel to submit appropriate documentation and communication.
  • Hold communication meeting when necessary, with shift personnel
  • Carry out corporate GMP’s, personnel and safety policies while maintaining discipline within the plant.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Crosstrain in labels needed.
  • Support, participate and enforce GDN safety policies, company rules, and code of safe practice.
  • Must perform all positions of rotation, if applicable to cover absences.
  • Perform other various job functions as may be assigned.
  • Follows and ensures adherence to established Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines.
  • Established and ensures adherence to procedures and standards, which are in agreement with these regulations, requirements and guidelines.

Responsibilities are not limited to the above mentioned and may include assisting other departments within reasonable and related tasks.


Physical demands

  • Will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.
  • Will occasionally sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
  • Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously. o Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently.
  • Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 30 pounds frequently.
  • Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs.
  • Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexion/minute).

Work environment

  • May work near moving mechanical parts.
  • May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  1. Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  2. Ability to speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish is required to lead and support a diverse workforce, conduct meetings, and ensure accurate understanding of company policies and safety procedures.
  3. Ability to multi-task, prioritize jobs.
  4. Strong organizational skills.
  5. Most have a valid Driver License.
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Must be a "team player", able to work well with fellow employees.
  8. Must be dependable, reliable, and able to work independently.
  9. Regular attendance required.
  10. Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
  11. Strong leadership skills.
