Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nationโ€™s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for a part-time Forklift Operator II to be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift performing multiple duties throughout entire plant using multiple types of attachments for the transport of containers including pallets, drums and bins. Main tasks will be the simple movement of product from one location to another using a variety of different forklift types, including electric and propane lifts. This is a part time (fulltime during our processing season July โ€“ October, part-time during the rest of the year) at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to understand and complete Ingredient batch paperwork and pull proper materials on paperwork.
  • Properly pick orders using a scan gun. Must be able to pick partial pallets using proper procedure to document changes that affect inventory. Must know how to pick an order using a query generated by PeopleSoft.
  • Consolidate product from partial pallets to single pallet, using proper Inventory Control Procedures.
  • Load, unload, and move product in a safe and efficient manner; load and unload trucks using the slip-sheet forklift.
  • Perform the Scan-to-Load, Transfer functions on the handheld scanner.

Requirements:

  • Forklift Certification preferred; demonstrates the ability to complete all Duties and Responsibilities for Forklift Operator Level II.
  • Experience thoroughly inspecting and driving a forklift in a safe manner in a production/warehouse environment.
  • Must be able to work any shift.
  • Ability to read and speak English.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
