Job description

Shipping/Receiving / Forklift Operator / Material Handler
General Function: Supervises and directs all packing and shipping area operations. Coordinates
packing of finished products for shipment to customers, maintains shipping schedules and inventory
records.
Duties:
1. Prepares work schedules for employees and directs daily activities in packing and shipping area.
2. Assesses production rate to ensure that orders will be filled completely and shipped according to
schedule.
3. Trains new personnel.
4. Evaluates packing material inventory and orders supplies as necessary.
5. Post and files daily packing inventory control records.
6. Oversees the packing of products by evaluating size, weight, and number of products to be
packed, and durability of appropriate cartons.
7. Keeps Production Control Manager informed of packing and shipping schedules and objectives
to be met.
8. Maintains a clean work area.
9. Maintains inventory control of finished, packed products stored in warehouse.
10. Provides recommendations for continuous improvement.

Working Conditions: Works inside plant where there is a great deal of noise from presses. The
work may be dusty, dirty and greasy. Handles sharp edged metal and exposed to chemicals used in
oil.
Physical Effort: Works on a hard surface; stands, stoops, bends and lifts heavy objects
(approximately 50 lbs.). Work involves continual movement of hands and arms.
Safety Equipment: Wears safety shoes, glasses, gloves and ear plugs where required.
Qualification Requirements: High School diploma and two (2) years of general college study; one
(1) more years of shipping and receiving experience; one (1) or more years in a leadership position in
shipping and receiving or one (1) or more years supervisory experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) or four (4) years of college or university education,
preferring a BS degree in business administration; two (2) or more years experience in shipping and
receiving at supervisory level.
