Position Overview
The Bag Machine Operator I is a Liquibox production role enabling the completion of tasks such as basic machine operation, inspection, and packing, as well as material handling. Development in this role will lead to ownership of machine operation (Operator II) to further career advancement and productivity. The essential function of the Operator I will be to maintain the bag line safety, quality, and productivity standards

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Follow all Key Operating Procedures, including but not limited to:

o Company and facility Policies
o Safety – LTCT; use of proper PPE; adherence to all applicable safety rules
o Quality – PQCT, Bag Specifications, Testing Frequencies and Procedures
o SOPs – Methods for performing work.
o SSOP/Good Housekeeping standards (keep machines and area sanitized and clean)
o Good Manufacturing Practices
o Food/Safety Security
o HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
o Food Regulatory and Customer Specifications

  • Responsible for scrap, efficiency, and product quality
  • Responsible for packing good quality bags into boxes, capping, and applying tubes as needed, helical insertion, and applying splice tape on helical bags and two-out machines, as per bag specifications from a standing position with breaks every two hours.
  • Responsible for ensuring that box and tote counts are accurate as per the bag specification.
  • Responsible for pushing boxes of bags (approximately 70 to 75 pounds) from packers’ conveyor to box conveyor.
  • Ensure that quality standards are upheld and that any suspect or defective product is reported to the Shift Leader to be appropriately destroyed or placed on hold for the Quality Facilitator’s review and decision.
  • Work as a valuable team member throughout the production room to accomplish the business goals:

o Help operators as needed (including cleaning machines and PM’s)
o Help other Inspector/Packers if needed when the machine is down.
o Learn to pack all bag specifications and at all machines. 2
