Job description

Job Title: Packer – McCookJob Description

This role focuses on accurately packing products for shipment in a corporate and manufacturing facility. You will receive items from pickers, verify orders using pick sheets and an RF scanner, select appropriate packaging materials, and prepare shipments by printing and applying labels. The position requires consistent attention to detail, comfort working with computers, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds while working at a dedicated packing station.

Responsibilities
  • Receive products from pickers and confirm that all items match the pick sheets before packing.
  • Use an RF scanner to scan all incoming products and ensure accurate tracking and documentation.
  • Select the appropriate boxes and packing materials based on product size, type, and shipping requirements.
  • Pack products securely and neatly to minimize damage during transit and meet quality standards.
  • Use a computer to perform basic data entry tasks related to orders, packing, and shipping.
  • Print shipping labels from the computer system and apply them accurately to the correct packages.
  • Verify that all scanned items, labels, and packed products match the order information and pick sheets.
  • Lift and move boxes and materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily packing activities.
  • Work while standing or sitting at a packing station for extended periods, depending on task requirements.
  • Collaborate with a small team to maintain an organized stock room and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Communicate professionally with coworkers and, when needed, interact courteously with facility leadership.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly during the workday.

  • Attention to detail when verifying products against pick sheets and shipping documents.
  • Ability to work effectively in a warehouse or stock room environment.
  • Must pass a reading test at approximately a 3rd grade level.

  • Willingness to work as part of a small, collaborative team.
Why Work Here?

You will join a friendly, close-knit team where you can interact comfortably with colleagues and contribute directly to daily operations. The environment supports open conversation while you work at your own station, offering a balance of independence and teamwork. You will work in a corporate and manufacturing facility that provides exposure to different parts of the business and occasional interaction with leadership, creating opportunities to learn and grow in a supportive setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a smaller stock room within a corporate and manufacturing facility, rather than a large warehouse. You will work on a small team of about five people, with approximately four coworkers in the packing area at the La Grange location. Each team member has their own workstation equipped with a computer and packing materials. The atmosphere is friendly and allows for conversation while working. You will use an RF scanner, computer, and standard packing tools throughout your shift.
