Job description

The Jefferson Metropolitan Housing Authority (JMHA) is looking to hire a part-time Purchasing & Inventory Assistant in Steubenville, Ohio.
The Purchasing & Inventory Assistant provides administrative and operational support to JMHA's purchasing and inventory functions. This position assists with purchasing documentation, inventory records, receiving and tracking orders, organizing materials and supplies, and maintaining accurate purchasing and inventory information.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Enter and maintain purchasing, receiving, and inventory information in JMHA computer systems and databases.
  • Assist with purchase requests, purchase orders, receiving records, packing slips, invoices, and other purchasing documentation.
  • Receive and document incoming materials and supplies and verify deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Track outstanding orders, back-orders, and anticipated delivery dates.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with organizing, labeling, storing, and issuing materials and supplies.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and reconciliation of inventory records.
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper purchasing and inventory files.
  • Prepare routine purchasing, inventory, receiving, and order-status reports.
  • Regularly load, transport, and deliver inventory, materials, supplies, parts, and equipment to JMHA properties throughout the area using an agency vehicle.
  • Work closely with the Purchasing Agent and other JMHA departments to support efficient purchasing and inventory operations.

Part-time position, approximately 24 hours per week during JMHA's normal business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in purchasing support, inventory, receiving, administrative support, warehousing, or a related field is preferred. Applicants should have strong organizational and computer skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is preferred.
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by JMHA's automobile insurance carrier.
This position involves regular travel between JMHA properties and requires the ability to handle, lift, transport, and store materials and supplies weighing up to 75 pounds.
