Summary:
The Packing House Forklift Driver is responsible for safely operating a forklift to move, load, unload, and store product and materials throughout the packing house and cold storage areas. This position supports packing operations by ensuring timely movement of product while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operate a forklift to transport bins, pallets, and finished product throughout the packing house
• Load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner
• Supply packing lines with materials and remove finished product as needed
• Stack, organize, and store pallets in designated areas
• Inspect product loads for stability and report any issues
• Perform daily forklift inspections and report maintenance needs
• Follow all safety guidelines and operating procedures when using equipment
• Assist with general warehouse and packing house duties as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Work efficiently to meet production and shipping deadlines
Skills and Qualifications:
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must complete required training provided by Orchard View, Inc.
• Ability to operate a forklift in a fast-paced environment
• Valid forklift certification required
• Must be able to drive all types of forklifts
• Ability to understand verbal instructions in Spanish and/or English and read warning signs and labels.
• Must have reliable transportation.
Working Conditions:
• Schedule includes Monday through Sunday workdays.
• Employees may work up to 10 hours per day and 60 hours per week.
• Regular exposure to outdoor orchard environments, including dirt, debris, odors, and noise.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, temperatures, and uneven terrain.
• Must wear appropriate, clean clothing and footwear suitable for working conditions; clothing must be free of rips, tears, or loose fabric that could pose a safety risk.
