Job description

Job Title: Production Packing Associate (Building Materials Manufacturing)
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, dependable, and physically resilient Production Packing Associate to join our building materials manufacturing team. Operating under the direct supervision of the Production Shift Leader, you will serve as a vital link at the end of our automated extrusion lines-taking ownership of final product safety, visual quality inspections, and structural pallet packing.
This position requires operating in a fast-paced, demanding industrial environment. The ideal candidate takes immense pride in maintaining a clean workspace, catches material defects before they ship, and thrives in a heavy-duty manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
End-of-Line Packing & Assembly
• Box Preparation: Assemble and glue corrugated product boxes, safely monitoring and restocking hot glue levels throughout the shift.
• Component Cutting: Utilize a manual hacksaw extensively to cut packing materials, structural components, and plastic strapping to precise lengths.
• Material Handling: Label, number, and systematically pack finished siding and building accessory profiles into designated containers.
• Palletization: Safely load completed product boxes onto skids, applying and pulling down heavy tension skid straps to secure the materials for warehouse transport.
Quality Control & Extrusions Line Support
• Visual Inspection: Conduct continuous, fast-paced visual inspections of each finished profile panel, checking for color uniformity, warping, or surface defects.
• Line Support: Assist the line operator with downstream setups, including stringing the production line during changeovers.
• Defect Escalation: Immediately flag and report structural or color anomalies to the Line Operator or Area Lead to minimize material scrap.
Safety, Housekeeping & Peer Support
• Environment Maintenance: Perform rigorous line housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, trip-free, and hazard-free workstation.
• Compliance: Adhere strictly to all corporate safety protocols, including the mandatory and continuous use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Team Cross-Training: Provide on-the-job guidance and peer training to incoming packing personnel as operations scale.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements
Mandatory Physical Capabilities (Non-Negotiable)
• Heavy Lifting: Proven capability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 60 pounds repeatedly without the assistance of teams, dollies, or forklifts.
• Endurance: Ability to stand and walk continuously across a hard production floor for 8 to 12+ hour shifts.
• Mobility Elements: Comfort executing frequent and prolonged periods of pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, gripping, and repetitive hand/arm motions.
Environmental Adaptability
• Ability to work comfortably inside an active manufacturing plant environment that is frequently noisy, dusty, and subject to high indoor heat and chemical/plastic process odors.
Core Competencies
• Strong verbal communication habits and a collaborative team attitude.
• Exceptional attention to detail when executing rapid visual inspections.
• Reliability, strong time management, and a safety-first mindset.
