Engineers in this role work with technologies like 4G LTE, 5G Core, and network function virtualization (NFV) to ensure efficient data flow between users and applications. Responsibilities include configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing network elements such as SGW, PGW, MME, AMF, and UPF. This role requires expertise in protocols like GTP, Diameter, and SCTP, as well as experience with cloud-based core network solutions.

What does a packet core engineer do?

A Packet Core engineer typically manages, configures, and optimizes the mobile core network infrastructure that supports data, voice, and multimedia traffic. Daily tasks include monitoring network health, troubleshooting and resolving issues, implementing upgrades or patches, and participating in network expansion projects. They also collaborate closely with radio, transport, and software teams to maintain seamless network operations and support new service rollouts. This role often requires responding to incidents promptly and conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
