About the Role
  • Provides system integration engineering support for large-scale systems and complex network environments. Interfaces with program management, system and software engineers, test engineers, and information assurance teams within an Agile environment. Supports Linux and Windows-based components in high-performance computing systems.
  • Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting including low-level packet capture analysis, log review, root cause analysis, deployment support, COTS software evaluation, configuration management, and coordination of outage windows to minimize operational disruption.
  • Develops and updates system documentation including data flow diagrams, configuration documentation, risk assessments, and analyses of alternatives for system-related concerns.

Critical Experiences
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of IT systems and networks.
  • Linux system administration experience.
  • Virtualization experience using industry standard hypervisors.
  • Experience deploying application software including application servers.
  • Experience supporting multiple infrastructure networks simultaneously.
  • System analysis, risk analysis, and/or vulnerability assessment experience.
  • Experience applying software builds, patches, and configuration updates.
  • Strong diagnostic capabilities including packet capture analysis and log review.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks based on mission needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to support extended hours for mission critical systems when required.

Preferred Experiences
  • Systems-of-systems integration and development experience.
  • Windows Server (including Server Core) administration experience.
  • Wireshark experience with low-level IP operations.
  • Microsoft MDT experience.
  • VMware experience.
  • CentOS and RedHat experience.
  • PowerShell and PowerCLI experience; familiarity with Python or REST APIs.
  • SALT, Puppet, CHEF, or Ansible experience.
  • Experience with iSCSI and Flash SANs.
  • SolarWinds deployment and usage experience.
  • Familiarity with firewalls, load balancers, NIDS, NAT, PAT, VPC, and ACLs.
  • Knowledge of PKI systems using HSMs and NTP synchronization.
  • ArcSight Security Analysis experience.
  • Experience supporting Linux Oracle database instances.

Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related field with at least eight (8) years of relevant experience;
  • or Master's degree with at least six (6) years of relevant experience.
