Job description

TITLE: Packer C

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Packaging Technician is responsible for the proper identification of slit rolls and to ensure each roll is packed and labeled according to the customer specifications. They are also responsible for the proper use of packaging equipment, the preventive maintenance, and housekeeping of the equipment and the area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good oral /written communication skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Computing skills
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Self-motivated and the ability to plan ahead
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Have the ability to verify customer requirements by reviewing the Setup
  • Having the ability to identify Exception codes and use the proper packing supplies
  • Must be able to print labels at the Packaging Station and how to verify the roll data for each finished roll coming off the conveyors
  • Demonstrate the basic troubleshooting of conveying systems
  • Operate the packaging crane in a safe and controlled manner
  • Enter data into the computer at the Packing Station and at the Stretch-Wrapping Station
  • Demonstrate the basics of and be able to operate the Stretch-Wrapper in both Automatic and Manual
  • Must be able to weigh the finished pallet and to properly apply label to pallet verifying data
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment
  • Interact and communicate with fellow packers, production supervisor, lead technician, and slitting technicians as required
  • Ability to operate a forklift and to stack material using a forklift
  • Demonstrate the ability to use the clamp truck
  • Assist in any function of the Slitting Department as requested by your lead operator and/or supervisor
