The Operations Coordinator is responsible for supporting daily operations in a fast-paced sheet metal fabrication environment. This role helps coordinate purchasing, production scheduling, customer order entry, inventory needs, and communication between departments to keep work moving smoothly from orders to production. This position plays an important role in helping the organization stay organized, responsive, and efficient. By maintaining accurate records, tracking materials, supporting production flow, and communicating across departments, the Operations coordinator helps manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and urgency.

Duties & Responsibilities

Purchasing

· Issue purchase orders for raw materials, hardware, tooling, and shop supplies.

· Maintain inventory levels to support uninterrupted production.

· Coordinate with vendors on pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.

· Track incoming materials and resolve shortages or discrepancies.

· Maintain accurate purchasing records within ERP/MRP systems.

Production Scheduling

· Schedule and prioritize production jobs based on customer demand, material availability, and machine capacity.

· Coordinate workflow between laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and other production departments.

· Assist with capacity planning and workload balancing.

Order Entry & Customer Coordination

· Enter customer orders accurately into ERP/MRP systems.

· Confirm pricing, quantities, and requested delivery dates

· Communicate order status updates to customers when needed.

· Maintain organized documentation and job records.

· Supplier OTD, customer OTD, material caused delays and Inventory turns.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the team members regularly communicate with team members, shop floor team members, and occasionally with customers. This position requires frequent standing and walking on the shop floor. The team member is required to work on a computer terminal daily. Occasionally may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment includes both office and manufacturing floor settings. While on the manufacturing floor, the team member may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and loud noise levels. Appropriate PPE is required in designated areas.
