The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily management of traveling technicians working on customer wind farm projects across the U.S. This role ensures the successful execution of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, component replacements, inspections, and repairs, while managing the Specialize Field Service Team across various locations. The Operations Manager is accountable for meeting financial goals, optimizing resources, and driving growth. They will also handle team performance management, customer relations, compliance, and project efficiency. This position plays a key role in maintaining high service standards, managing subcontractors, and supporting broader operational and quality initiatives within the organization. 

Are You Looking to: 

  • Lead and manage the Specialized Field Services (SFS) team, consisting of traveling technicians dispersed across various locations in the United States? 

  • Oversee a portion of the SFS P&L, ensuring the team meets its financial targets and objectives? 

  • Develop and submit time and materials proposals for customers requiring service work? 

  • Enhance employee performance through recognition, constructive feedback, performance reviews, and corrective action when necessary? 

  • Mentor and guide employees to maximize their performance and professional growth? 

  • Create strategies to ensure timely completion of service work and fulfillment of customer commitments? 

  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to drive growth and optimize resource allocation for projects? 

  • Streamline and improve operational processes for increased efficiency? 

  • Maintain close communication with project leads, site supervisors, field technicians, and engineers, providing daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports? 

  • Manage additional projects or programs as needed? 
     

Are You Ready to: 

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all SFS-related customer inquiries, ensuring high levels of customer service and satisfaction. 

  • Oversee and manage subcontractors and partner contractors to guarantee the successful execution of assigned projects. 

  • Supervise the management of resources, warehouse locations, and assigned projects to ensure efficient operations. 

  • Review and approve expense reports and timesheets for direct reports. 

  • Ensure all work-related documentation, including Service Orders, is accurately completed using the DPMS Fast Field system. 

  • Perform effectively under pressure, delivering accurate results in stressful situations. 

  • Stay up-to-date on industry knowledge by attending relevant workshops within the wind sector. 

  • Provide operational, quality, and engineering support as required. 

  • Ensure timely invoicing to customers for completed work. 

  • Uphold compliance with DWT policies and programs related to Safety, Quality, and documentation practices. 

  • Ensure the SFS teams deliver exceptional preventative and corrective maintenance on assigned multi-brand wind turbines, adhering to DWT procedures.    

What You’ll Need: 

  • High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s Degree is a bonus, but not required. 

  • 3+ years’ experience in the wind industry with a minimum of 2 years of managerial experience. 

  • Valid driving license (NON CDL / CDL) 

  • Advanced MS Office skills required 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, and follow instructions, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.  

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, given proper instructions. 

  • Ability to deal with problems involving at least one concrete variable in standardized situations.  

  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug/alcohol screening. 

  • The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus because of potential work in close confines. 

  • Employee must be physically fit enough to free climb 300 ft multiple times a day while wearing 25+ lbs. of climbing gear and work in extreme weather conditions. 

  • Must be capable of rescuing team mate anywhere in tower in the event of emergency. 

  • We care about the safety and wellbeing of every one of our employees. To help ensure their safety, any employees climbing a wind turbine must use a Personal Fall Arrest System, and may not exceed the system’s maximum weight capacity of 309 lbs. This weight must include the individual, their tooling, uniform, and personal protective equipment. Based on these safety requirements and the standard weight of equipment, employees who climb wind turbines may not exceed a maximum personal body weight of 260 lbs.
