  What your day looks like: The Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight of deli slicing and packaging operations, as well as warehouse, shipping, and receiving functions within a USDA-regulated meat manufacturing and distribution facility. This position ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, customer service, and employee engagement. May be responsible for all or part of the following duties and responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee all deli slicing, packaging, labeling, and product handling activities.
  • Ensure daily production schedules are executed efficiently to meet customer demand and service requirements.
  • Monitor labor efficiency, yields, throughput, downtime, waste, and overall production performance.
  • Monitor transportation schedules, dock utilization, and loading activities to support customer service objectives.
  • Ensure Bills of Lading, receiving documentation, inventory transactions, and shipping records are completed accurately.
  • Improve warehouse flow, space utilization, and operational efficiencies.
  • Manage departmental budgets, labor costs, and operational expenses.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators including production throughput, yield performance, labor productivity, overtime utilization, order accuracy, inventory accuracy, on-time shipments, safety performance, and customer service metrics.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Food Safety, and Finance teams.
  • Support strategic business initiatives, new product launches, and operational improvement projects. 
 Who you are:
  • Promote and maintain a culture of food safety, quality, and accountability throughout the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable USDA, HACCP, GMP, SQF/BRC, OSHA, FDA, and company food safety requirements.
  • Lead and develop production supervisors, warehouse supervisors, shipping and receiving personnel, and frontline employees.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, accountability measures, and development plans.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and succession planning activities.
  • Promote employee engagement, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Food Science, or related field preferred or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive operations leadership experience within food manufacturing, meat processing, deli production, or related manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of management experience overseeing production and warehouse/distribution operations.
  • Experience managing USDA-regulated facilities strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational leadership.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout production and warehouse areas.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs, access production platforms, and inspect warehouse operations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as business needs require.
