Job description

Excellent opportunity for a Packaging Technician in Scott City, MO!

Candidates must be willing to work 7am - 7pm and every other weekend.


I. Position Purpose

Reporting to the Production Floor Supervisor, this position is responsible for participating in packaging operations for finished product transfer to trucks and railcars.


II. Position Responsibilities and Duties

Performing duties as directed by others to ensure the following duties are managed accurately and timely:


Packaging Responsibilities

  • Operate packaging equipment including scales, bag sealer, product conveyors and other equipment
  • Physically move product from conveyors to trucks and railcars
  • Operate forklift in a safe manner including daily inspections of the forklift and daily charging
  • Inspect trailers for the loading process
  • Verify bags and placards to ensure that they match the order on the schedule
  • Complete necessary paperwork to complete truck orders
  • Verify all paperwork and seals to ensure that the correct product is being sent out
  • Communicate with truck drivers to ensure the proper order is going out in a timely manner
  • Work with Packaging Lead to ensure all orders go out timely and accurately
  • Responsible for inspecting pallets and verifying that each pallet is in proper condition to be loaded
  • Physically move product from conveyors to trucks and railcars
  • Utilize the IMS and SPC where applicable
  • Responsible for quality of work within area
  • Maintain work environment in a clean and orderly fashion


Quality, Safety and Sanitation

  • Follow all Personnel Safety policies/procedures, including the use of proper PPE, as well as ensure the safe use of required tools and equipment
  • Follow all Food Safety, Quality Assurance, GMP's, Sanitation and general plant policies/procedures
  • Inspect products for overall appearance according to customer and QA/Food Safety requirements and communicate with supervisor when non-conforming products are present·
  • Communicate all safety or environmental issues to supervisors/managers
  • At end of shift, secure all equipment, perform general housekeeping duties
  • Complete necessary paperwork for documenting process parameters and recordkeeping requirements

Open Communications to be a team player and do other tasks as necessary.


III. Essential Skills

This position actively engages in daily operations and is engaged in supporting policies and procedures in accordance with the company Vision, Values, and Strategic Objectives.


Education Level: High School Diploma or GED

Related Experience: Ability to effectively convey 50-100 lbs. consistently from conveyor to truck or railcar

Forklift experience preferred

Ability to work in a team environment

Mechanical ability preferred

Consistent work attendance history

Packaging experience preferred


IV. Physical and Mental Requirements

This position requires physical and mental alertness, attentiveness and stamina for the length of an entire 8-12 hour work shift each day. Occasional to frequent lifting of 50-100 pounds, frequent changing from a seated to standing position and occasional to frequent stair climbing are all physical demands of this position. This working environment for this position will include occasional to frequent work in both extreme cold and hot weather conditions.
