Q-Lab Corporation is currently seeking an Equipment Engineer to join our team in Wittmann, AZ. Reporting to the Site Manager, this role will be responsible for leading the design, development, optimization, and maintenance of outdoor weather testing equipment at the Wittmann, Arizona Desert Testing site. The position is diverse, hands-on, and technical in nature, and includes support of day-to-day site operations management. It involves a significant amount of time spent outdoors. 

This position is eligible for a $5k sign on bonus.



Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and upgrade the site's data acquisition systems and logic controller programming
  • Identify and implement engineering improvements to enhance equipment performance, reliability, and usability
  • Organize and support engineering projects in collaboration with maintenance mechanics
  • Develop detailed technical documentation, procedures, and system records for both new and legacy operations
  • Learn and maintain a deep technical understanding of weathering science and Q-Lab laboratory procedures with ability to educate customers
  • Act as a high-level customer support and technical resource for operations
  • Oversee the Maintenance team by providing direction and working collaboratively on solutions to issues encountered
  • Support the overall operations of the business when the Site Manager is away
  • Assist with coordination of calibration activities for measurement equipment (internal and external)

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or experience equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
  • 5-10+ years of work experience in a hands-on mechanical/electrical engineering environment, designing, optimizing, maintaining, and improving complex electro-mechanical equipment
  • In-depth understanding of industrial electronics and electrical controls/systems, including PLC's, motors, relays, timers, switches, overcurrent protection and controls

Desired Skills:

  • Proficient with 3D CAD (Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD etc.)
  • Experience with structural framework and weld design
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication design
  • Experience in database administration
  • Skill in PLC programming (CRBasic or others)
