POSITION SUMMARY:ย ย 

The Lead, Architectural Design provides a leadership role andย expertiseย to the new buildingย projects asย assigned by the SVP, Architectural Design. Manages and coordinates architectural design work forย newbuild, revitalization or refurbishment projects. Leads and develops a team of architects/designers working on specified projects.ย ย 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:ย ย 

  • Develops team resources (people, processes, tools) to manage large scale projects.ย ย Independentlyย plans, manages, guides design, and oversees projects, while cross coordinating and sharing best practices effectively between external architectural, interior design and consultancy firms, guiding the design they provide.ย ย 

  • Leaderย who ensures the design intent isย apparentย and credible, and that the voice of the Executive Steering Committee and Brand Think Tank is communicated clearly and consistently throughout the design process.ย ย ย 

  • Ensures that brand concepts areย apparentย andย credible andย fulfill the voice of the Corporation and each Brand, which continues our culture of design innovation.ย ย 

  • Applies and ensures the brand & design standards, CADD & drawing standards, and contract references,ย assistingย Supervisor with oversight that project materials are delivered onย a timelyย basis.ย ย 

  • Plans,ย manages,ย and guides design while cross coordinating and sharing best practices effectively between external architectural, interior design and consultancy firms, guiding the design they provide.ย ย 

  • Receives guidance and coordinationย from Sr.ย Associate and Manager on unusual or complexย issues.ย ย

  • Upholds SQM practices throughout all design phases.ย ย 

  • Regularlyย attendsย meetings with sponsors (clients).ย ย ย ย 

  • Studies,ย collects,ย shares, compare,ย storesย statistical information,ย andย analyze various ships and areas bringing forth observations.ย ย 

  • Creates presentations and reports for design management.ย ย ย ย 

  • Assistsย with cost complexity balancing along with other cost control needs.ย ย ย 

  • Regularlyย assistsย and occasionally conducts practicality reviews to check that operational, risk or accessibility concerns are being considered in all aspects of design.ย ย ย ย 

  • Assist Sr. Associate with supporting shop drawing review process, and yard / contractor coordination meetings, mockup reviews, factoryย visitsย and inspections during newbuilding process and drydockย period.ย ย 

  • Stays current in industry trends and innovation through research and marketย knowledge.ย ย 

  • Occasionally accepts assignments for design concepts, space planning, design development, drawings & details (elevations, sections, details) of designated venues.ย ย ย 

  • Performs other duties as required.ย ย ย

QUALIFICATIONS:ย ย 

  • Minimum of 10 years cruise design industry experienceย required.ย ย 

  • Minimumย of 5ย years managing large scale projects.ย ย 

  • Minimum of 2 yearsย managing directย reports preferred.ย ย 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Interior Designย required, Architecture preferred.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

  • Cruise shipย newbuildย or revitalization design experience preferred.ย ย ย 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:ย ย 

  • Knowledge of cruise ship staterooms or crew areas preferred.ย ย ย 

  • Mustย possessย skills in at least 2 of the following:ย  AutoCAD, Excel,ย PowerPoint, Photoshop, Sketchup;ย Microsoftย Project is nice toย know.ย ย 

  • Must beย effectiveย communicator with project team (and sponsor whenย required)ย exhibitingย good capabilities in written, oral, and graphic media.ย Representsย department and self in a competent professionalย manner.ย 

  • Is highly motivated, efficient, and organized.ย ย Has fundamental understanding of time management, with priorities beingย establishedย by supervisor.ย ย ย ย 

  • Works on multiple projects, and multiple tasks under various team members. Has strong ability toย maintainย focus?ย ย 

  • Ability to travel internationally orย domesticallyย 25% of the time.ย ย ย ย
