Job description

Description
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Shipping & Packaging Associate to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for preparing, packaging, labeling, and staging products for shipment while ensuring accuracy and quality throughout the shipping process.
The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to work independently while also being a strong team player.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and package products for shipment according to customer and company specifications
  • Lift, move, sort, and stage pallets, boxes, and materials
  • Build, wrap, and securely band pallets and crates
  • Load outgoing shipments onto trucks
  • Compare picking tickets, data sheets, shipping documents, and product information for accuracy
  • Verify product quantities, weights, labels, and shipping information
  • Properly label products and shipping packages
  • Process small-package shipments using FedEx, UPS, and other shipping systems
  • Use wireless RF scanners and desktop computers to complete shipping tasks
  • Maintain accurate shipping and inventory documentation
  • Replenish shipping supplies and notify the appropriate team member when supplies are needed
  • Assist with inventory counts and other team projects
  • Communicate with other departments to resolve shipping or order issues
  • Help organize and stage outgoing freight for daily carrier pickups
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Complete required safety inspections when operating a forklift
  • Secure equipment and shipping areas at the end of the shift
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous shipping or warehouse experience preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to use RF scanners or learn computerized shipping systems
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Basic math skills and ability to accurately complete documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to identify and help resolve problems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed
  • Ability to lift and manually move up to 50 pounds regularly
  • May occasionally be required to lift or move items weighing over 100 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate material-handling equipment
  • Good vision, including the ability to distinguish colors and accurately read labels, documents, and computer screens
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and delivery drivers
  • Work environment may include moderate noise, moving mechanical equipment, fumes, or airborne particles
