Job description

Purpose of Job:
Operates bagging systems for packaged finished product (bulk bags and 55 lb bags) in the Shipping Department. Operates forklift to load and move all package types into containers, stages product in the warehouse, and moves supplies in the warehouse.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works as a team with other shipping personnel to complete the daily functions in the shipping department. The team rotates among the positions of bagger operator, forklift operator and stacker throughout a shift.
  • Obtains bagging instructions including quantity, proper bin, lot number, and special instructions.
  • May complete stencils with accurate information from work orders and stencils bags.
  • Works with bagging team leader to assist in the completion of paperwork.
  • Operates automatic small bagger which requires hand and foot coordination.
  • Ensure bag weights are controlled according to customer quality specifications.
  • Perform SOC checks on bag weighs.
  • Operates the supersack bagger and/or densifier.
  • Ensure bag weights are controlled according to customer quality specifications.

  • Operates forklift (certified by KaMin) to move empty and full pallets, one ton bags and supplies. Uses the forklift to load/unload trucks.
  • Assembles and prepares pallets and stacks 55 lb. bags up to shoulder height from conveyor onto pallets.
  • Runs an automatic plastic wrap machine.
  • Cleans containers, obtains supplies and prepares cars for loading and shipping.
  • Cleans warehouse and assists in other areas of housekeeping.
  • Complete risk assessments before each job task.
  • Review appropriate job safety analysis and/or complete one prior to taking on new tasks or equipment.

Additional Position Requirements:
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures to achieve KaMin Vision.
  • Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures with the intent to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Report all productivity and quality issues to supervisor immediately.
  • Required to participate in regularly scheduled safety meetings to meet team objectives.
  • Must understand and comply with Personal Protective Equipment requirements for work area.
  • Accepts and performs delegated tasks including: lead safety meetings, housekeeping inspections, completing forms, etc.

Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts and may be required to work overtime.
  • Works mostly in the plant environment, works indoors and outdoors, and is exposed to seasonal temperature variations.
  • Works around machinery and moving equipment and frequently exposed to noise, vibrations, chemicals, dust, fumes, and slippery conditions.

Physical Requirements
  • Requires standing 75% of time, walking 10% of time, sitting 10% of time, and bending 5% of time.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and lift.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to lift 55 lb. bags to shoulder height consistently throughout the day.

Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to read and comprehend work orders, loading forms, work instructions, safety manuals, and material safety data sheets.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to team goals and objectives.
  • Must possess basic computer skills to enter process parameters.
  • Must have and maintain a current driver's license and forklift certification.
