Job description

Description Title: Lecturer (Pacific Studies) Position: Pending Hiring Unit: College of Arts, Languages and Letters, Department of Pacific Islands Studies Location: Manoa Date Posted: May 29, 2022 Closing Date: Continuous Salary Information: Minimum $2,053 per credit hour; commensurate with experience Full Time/Part Time: Part Time Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Other Conditions: For placement in lecturer pool for Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027. Positions are part time, temporary and non-tenurable; and contingent upon course offerings and sufficient enrollment, position clearance and availability of funds. Duties and Responsibilities: Teach various Pacific Islands Studies courses at the undergraduate level.

Design the syllabus that meets College of Arts, Languages and Letters (CALL) and the Department of Pacific Islands Studies course requirements, conducing all scheduled classes, grading and maintaining office hours for each course taught. Minimum Qualifications: M.A. in Pacific Islands Studies or in Arts & Sciences, Public Administration or Business Administration with a concentration in Pacific Islands Studies

Demonstrated ability to teach interdisciplinary undergraduate courses. Desirable Qualifications: Ph.D. in hand or current enrollment in a Ph.D

program in Arts & Sciences, Public Administration or Business Administration with a concentration in Pacific Islands Studies. Current or recent research in Oceania Experience living or working with Pacific Islanders in a Pacific Island outside Hawai'i. Working knowledge of one or more Pacific Islands language.
