THE POSITION

If you do, the Department of Environmental Protection is searching for candidates for a clerical position at our Cambria District Mining Office.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the full administrative process for permit applications and related records. It requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage many tasks on schedule.

As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Application Review: Identify permit application types, verify accuracy, and enter information into tracking systems
  • Applicant Support: Communicate with applicants, gather missing information, and resolve administrative issues
  • Correspondence Preparation: Draft letters, memos, notifications, and other official documents following guidelines
  • Record Management: Maintain permit files, update databases, and ensure information completeness and accuracy
  • Tracking and Reporting: Monitor deadlines, permit progress, and review schedules while coordinating updates with staff
  • Bond Processing: Review bonds, verify accuracy, track payments, and prepare related documents

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
