Job description

Job Summary

Corporate I&C/ Digital Design engineer for Salem and Hope Creek is responsible to providing support for all Digital and I&C design basis activities assigned to them in support of the safe and efficient operation of the Generating Stations. Represents, leads, develops overall strategies and influences decision-making for performance of the assigned design discipline. Provides support for routine design assessments, outage readiness and preparation for outside organizational assessments (i.e. INPO).

Job Responsibilities
  • The Design Engineers job responsibilities include: configuration changes, setpoint calculations, engineering evaluations, Corrective Action Program, Environmental Qualification, support shift coverage for refueling outages, support license change requests, support plant engineering emergent design related requests, 50.59 preparation/reviews and technical evaluations.
  • The successful individual will be able to fulfill an LRE (lead responsible engineer) role for configuration changes and capital projects.  These responsibilities include:
  • Managing, determining and subsequently developing/preparing the applicable design related information associated with a design change.
  • Verifying that the problem to be solved by the project has been clearly understood and agreed upon by the stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that conceptual engineering is thorough and reasonable alternatives have been evaluated.
  • Identifying, estimating, and coordinating Design Engineering and inter-facing departmental resources needed to support development and implementation of a design change package.  
  • Developing a schedule for completion of engineering activities.
  • Managing contracted engineering efforts with respect to technical acceptance, cost schedule, and other associated duties.
  • Interfacing with Project Managers to ensure that Engineering deliverables meet the overall project needs.
  • The successful candidate will also perform other assigned duties as determined by the I&C Design Engineering Branch Manager. Technical proficiency is desired in the area of Instrumentation and Controls (control systems, setpoint, scaling, environmental qualification, DCS, etc.).
Job Specific Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Technical Degree. 
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in the nuclear industry or related industrial experience. Availability for Shift Work during plant outages and generation challenges. 
  • Current experience and expertise in industrial instrumentation and controls.  Must meet Nuclear's requirements for Unescorted Plant Access.
  • A valid Real ID or an approved form of alternate documentation (https://www.pseg.com/IDrequirement) is required for this job. Must provide appropriate documentation to meet access requirements on the date of hire.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering can count toward one year of experience. 

Desired:

  • Experience in Nuclear Power Plant Engineering. Ability to manage projects and /or external vendors, familiar with IEEE/ISO/ISA/EPRI/Digital standards and NRC regulations/guidance (Reg Guide, ISG)  related to design function for PWR/BWR. Knowledge of setpoint calculations or the Environmental Qualification program.
  • Experience with Westinghouse OEM Ovation Digitial Control Systems
