As a Saw Operator / Dismantler, you will play a critical role in our recycling operations by breaking down pallets and sorting components with incredible consistency and detail. What You'll Be Doing:

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Saw Operator is responsible for breaking down pallets and sorting components to meet PLA standards and production goals. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Dismantling pallets using multiple types of equipment, specifically industrial bandsaws.
  • Partnering with team members to operate production equipment with precision to provide consistent quality.
  • Performing daily inspections of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Controlling and adjusting equipment settings as needed for various pallet types.
  • Evaluating pallet components to determine usability and ensuring they meet PLA quality grades.
  • Stacking and storing reusable components in designated areas while properly disposing of waste.
  • Maintaining an established production rate to ensure efficiency and safety goals are met.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work area throughout the shift to reduce accidents.
  • Escalating technical and process issues to leadership immediately.
  • Complying with all PLA policies and procedures, as well as federal and state safety rules.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance at work is an essential function of this job.
What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience in pallet repair, woodworking, or construction preferred.
  • Knowledge of saw operation, including maintenance and safe use of industrial saws, preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify defects and imperfections in wood.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced assembly line environment while meeting daily production goals.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods at an assigned station.
  • Capable of repeatedly lifting, pushing, and pulling 75 pounds or more throughout the workday.
  • Requires excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating machinery.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and safety alarms in a noisy environment.
  • Excellent vision for inspecting pallet components and operating machinery safely.
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in a non-climate-controlled environment. This may include exposure to wood dust, sawdust, fluctuating temperatures (hot and cold), and moderate to high noise levels. Steel-toed boots and other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
