Job description

Lawn Management Company (LMC) is searching for a Chemical Applicator to perform applications of various fertilizers, pesticides, and growth regulators at customer properties to maintain a favorable appearance and reduce required maintenance hours. This position will also identify and provide solutions to PHC-related issues. This is a Full-time, benefit eligible position working Monday-Friday, 6am-3pm.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect turf, ornamental plants, and public facilities for insect or disease infestations. Be able to assess and determine treatment for pest and plant diseases to ensure the appropriate treatment to meet or exceed company standards.
  • Mix and measure all chemicals and calibrate all spraying equipment in an accurate and safe manner to ensure compliance with the Texas Department of Agriculture, federal, state, and city regulations and standards.
  • Safely apply pesticides, fertilizers, and growth regulators as directed by manufacturers, federal and state safety standards, and labeled instructions.
  • Operate and calibrate all equipment and vehicles necessary including but not limited to, skid sprayers, backpack sprayers, ride-on sprayer/spreaders, push spreaders, vortex spreader system, Isuzu trucks, flatbed trucks, pickup trucks, water trucks, vans, and pull-behind trailers.
  • Proactively address issues that arise in your areas of responsibility to ensure quick resolution and minimize potential liability.
  • Maintain chemical, tools, and equipment inventory to ensure availability and safe storage in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Proactive weekly inspection of trucks, trailers, and all phc-related equipment to limit downtime and avoid costly repairs.
  • Weekly maintenance of trucks, trailers, and all phc-related equipment including but not limited to, cleaning trucks and equipment weekly, filling up tires, replacing nozzles, and greasing bearings. Report any maintenance issues and required materials/equipment to continue with operations using the maintenance report system.
  • Clean sprayers and phc-related equipment between application changes to avoid cross-contamination and potential damages
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with the Texas Department of Agriculture. As an applicator, it is your responsibility, not the business to maintain these records. A copy of these will always be made available to you upon your request.
  • Work effectively with all computer software and mobile applications such as but not limited to Aspire.
  • Complete and maintain all required licenses, certifications, and required continuing education. Stay fully up to date on new rules and requirements established by local, state, and federal agencies as well as staying current on new technologies and industry trends.
  • Request follow-up visits when required to ensure applications reach desired results.

Qualifications
  • Previous applicator experience is required
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record and ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening
  • Applicator's license is required
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, excessive heat/cold, and humidity and extended workdays and weeks depending on weather and time of year
  • Required to read/write English and perform basic math calculations
  • Requires extensive walking on uneven and unpaved ground with possible holes, tree roots, and other obstacles both natural and manmade. Will operate various types of equipment. Subject to possible inhalation or absorption of toxic chemicals through mishandling
  • Requires lifting 5 to 75 pounds of materials and/or equipment
