Job description

Job Summary

The Primavera P6 Scheduler is responsible for the development, maintenance, and analysis of Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules in support of federal construction projects. The Scheduler ensures accurate project sequencing, milestone compliance, and proactive identification of schedule risks in accordance with federal contract requirements and industry best practices. This role supports project controls, progress reporting, change management documentation, and coordination among project stakeholders. This position may be located on-site at various project locations throughout the United States. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

*Site locations may be San Antonio, El Paso or other location in Texas.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules using Primavera P6
  • Establish Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) aligned with project scope and contract milestones
  • Load activity durations, logic ties, calendars, and constraints into the project schedule
  • Coordinate schedule development with Project Managers, field supervision, and trade partners
  • Prepare and submit baseline schedules for review and approval
  • Perform regular schedule updates reflecting actual progress
  • Update actual start and finish dates and remaining durations
  • Analyze critical path, near-critical activities, and float trends
  • Prepare schedule narratives explaining variances and corrective actions
  • Generate short-term look-ahead schedules such as three-week or six-week schedules
  • Identify schedule risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Conduct impact analyses for scope changes or sequencing adjustments
  • Prepare Time Impact Analyses (TIA) as required
  • Develop recovery schedules to address delays and maintain project milestones
  • Maintain documentation supporting schedule revisions and change management
  • Provide schedule reports and analytics to project leadership
  • Participate in progress meetings and coordination sessions
  • Integrate subcontractor schedules into the master project schedule
  • Ensure alignment of schedule activities with procurement, submittals, inspections, and commissioning requirements
  • Ensure compliance with federal scheduling specifications and contract requirements
  • Maintain organized and auditable schedule documentation
  • Support schedule-related discussions during reviews, audits, or dispute resolution proceedings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Minimum five (5) years of CPM scheduling experience on federal construction projects
  • Experience supporting federal building or infrastructure projects preferred

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6
  • Strong knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles
  • Experience preparing schedule narratives and Time Impact Analyses
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Demonstrated objective problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with federal scheduling specifications such as Section 01 32 01 preferred
  • Experience working within multi-tier contractor environments preferred
  • PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) or PMI-SP certification preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Office setting within a federal construction project site office
  • Coordination with on-site construction management staff
  • Work performed on active federal construction sites including secure facilities and high-risk construction areas and may require compliance with base access protocols and security clearances
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking with occasional bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Exposure to weather conditions including heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, and moving machinery typical of an active construction site
