P Manager information

What is a p manager?

P Managers, often referred to as Product Managers or Project Managers depending on the context, are professionals responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of specific projects or products within an organization. Their role typically involves coordinating cross-functional teams, managing timelines and budgets, and ensuring that objectives are met efficiently. P Managers play a vital role in aligning business goals with project deliverables and often act as the main point of communication between stakeholders.

How does a project manager typically coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success?

Project Managers regularly collaborate with cross-functional teams by facilitating clear communication, setting expectations, and organizing regular check-ins or stand-up meetings. They often use project management tools to assign tasks, track progress, and address any obstacles promptly. Building strong relationships with team members from different departments is crucial, as it helps align goals and ensures that everyone is working towards the same objectives. This collaborative approach is essential for identifying potential risks early and keeping the project on schedule.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a project manager?

To thrive as a Project Manager, you need strong organizational skills, leadership abilities, and a solid understanding of project management methodologies, often supported by a bachelor's degree and certifications like PMP or PRINCE2. Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or Jira is typically required for planning, tracking, and reporting. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help Project Managers lead teams and navigate challenges effectively. These competencies are crucial for delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget while ensuring team alignment and stakeholder satisfaction.

Job description

Job Description RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Senior Project Manager - Data Center Electrical (Medium Voltage) in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area. This is a full-time, direct-hire, field-based assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive compensation package including benefits, vacation, and holidays.

Overview of YOUR Role as a Senior PM - Data Center Electrical In this role, you will serve as the primary operational leader for medium voltage electrical infrastructure on mission-critical data center construction projects across the DFW region. You will drive the full lifecycle of project execution - from mobilization through commissioning and energization - with direct accountability for safety, schedule, financial performance, and client satisfaction. This is a contractor-side leadership role where you own the results: you manage the teams, control the budget, and deliver the project.

As a Senior PM - Data Center Electrical, YOU Will: Provide overall project leadership for medium voltage electrical scopes on data center construction projects, including MV systems ranging from 5kV-35kV, substations, switchgear, transformers, feeders, grounding systems, and distribution infrastructure. Oversee onsite project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of work. Own project P&L - monitor budgets, cost reports, productivity metrics, and change management processes to maintain and improve financial performance.

Develop and manage project schedules, manpower plans, procurement tracking, and project forecasting from kickoff through closeout. Coordinate closely with utility providers on service integration, outage planning, testing, and energization activities. Review electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and construction documents for constructability and contract compliance.

Lead project meetings with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders; serve as the primary client-facing operational representative. Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement coordination, and all project reporting requirements. Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect schedule, budget, and operational goals.

Oversee QA/QC processes, field inspections, turnover documentation, and commissioning support activities. Support commissioning teams during pre-functional testing, functional testing, startup, and energization. Enforce a strong safety culture including LOTO, energized work procedures, OSHA compliance, and site-specific safety protocols.

Mentor and develop project managers, engineers, and field leadership personnel within your team. YOU Are the Ideal Candidate If You Have: 10+ years of experience in electrical construction, with significant experience in medium voltage systems and mission-critical or data center environments. Demonstrated P&L management experience - you have owned the financial performance of large construction projects or a portfolio of projects.

Strong understanding of medium voltage electrical systems, utility coordination, substations, switchgear, and commissioning processes. Proven leadership experience managing project teams, subcontractors, budgets, and complex construction schedules. Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and technical construction documentation.

Experience with project controls, cost forecasting, change management, and scheduling platforms. A contractor-side background - you have executed work as the contractor, not managed vendors from the owner or developer seat. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead client-facing meetings and drive accountability across teams.

Valid driver's license and ability to work in active construction environments around energized electrical systems. It's a BONUS If You Have: Direct experience on hyperscale data center construction projects. Background in utility-scale electrical infrastructure, transmission, or substation construction.

OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification. PMP certification or equivalent formal project management training. Established relationships with data center developers, hyperscalers, or utility providers in the DFW market.

Experience managing projects involving accelerated schedules and complex energization sequencing. About Our Client Our client is one of the largest and most respected utility contractors in the United States, with a rapidly expanding data center construction practice serving hyperscale and mission-critical clients across the country. With deep expertise in medium voltage electrical infrastructure, transmission, distribution, and substation construction, they bring unmatched technical capability and a strong safety culture to every project.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area - one of the most active data center markets in the world - is a key hub for their growing mission-critical business line.
