Professionals in oxygen delivery roles, such as respiratory therapists or medical gas technicians, often face challenges like ensuring accurate oxygen flow rates for diverse patient needs and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions under time-sensitive conditions. They must also maintain strict safety protocols to prevent hazards, such as fire risks associated with oxygen use. Additionally, coordinating effectively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare staff is crucial to meet changing patient requirements and provide optimal care.

What is oxygen delivery in healthcare?

Oxygen delivery in healthcare refers to the process of providing supplemental oxygen to patients who have difficulty maintaining adequate oxygen levels in their blood. This can be necessary for individuals with respiratory conditions, during surgery, or in emergency situations. Oxygen can be delivered through various devices such as nasal cannulas, face masks, or ventilators, depending on the patient's needs and the clinical setting. The goal is to ensure that the body's tissues receive enough oxygen to function properly and to prevent complications from low oxygen levels.

What is the difference between Oxygen Delivery vs Respiratory Therapist?
