Job description

Position Title: Information Technology Specialist – Field Services Support
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
Engagement Type: Contract (ongoing, annual renewal)
Work Mode: Onsite with regional travel (CRSA region, State of Iowa)
Duration: Initial term 05/04/2026 – 06/30/2026, with yearly renewals on 7/1
Interview Type: Web Cam or In Person

Role Overview:
This role provides on-site technical support for regional sites within the State of Iowa, ensuring IT systems, local network infrastructure, and business applications operate reliably. The position combines hands-on troubleshooting with coordination between local business units and central IT service delivery teams, and requires a clean driving record and regular regional travel with use of a state fleet vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day technical support for site-specific IT systems and processes across the CRSA region.

  • Travel to regional locations (no overnight travel) to deliver on-site assistance and meet local operational requirements.

  • Act as primary liaison between business units, local resources, and central IT teams to align technology with business needs.

  • Manage and maintain local computer hardware, peripherals, and specialized site equipment, including patching firmware and security software.

  • Develop or modify automation and scripting to improve site efficiency; maintain inventory within the ITSM system (e.g., Service Desk Plus, SCCM, Zoho Endpoint Central, Powershell).

  • Manage and support desktop productivity suites and site-specific applications, including installation, maintenance, and documentation.

  • Install and configure physical networking equipment and media in line with DOM-DoIT standards (e.g., Cisco, Meraki), and monitor ICN and external circuits.

  • Track support activities within the ITSM system, produce technical documentation and weekly status reports, and participate in on-call rotations and team meetings as needed.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience traveling to multiple sites to provide on-site IT support; ability to enter into a car use agreement and operate a state fleet vehicle.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience participating in on-call rotations supporting critical business functions.

  • Minimum 5 years’ technical literacy with ITSM systems, scripting for automation, and network hardware configuration.

  • At least 2 years’ experience in endpoint management, including patching and maintaining computer hardware, firmware, and peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.).

  • At least 2 years’ experience in network administration, including installing and configuring physical networking equipment and monitoring WAN or external circuits. MS Teams phone experience is a plus.

  • At least 2 years’ experience in systems diagnostics, troubleshooting day-to-day issues for IT systems and integrated components.

  • At least 2 years’ experience using ITSM tools for inventory, ticketing, and knowledge base documentation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Service Desk Plus, SCCM, Zoho Endpoint Central, and Powershell.

  • Experience with Cisco and Meraki network equipment and ICN circuits.

Additional Details:
This is an ongoing contract role that renews annually on July 1, with interviews scheduled for April 14th and 15th for this cycle. Candidates must be local; relocation is not provided, and a clean driving record over the past 7 years is required for use of the state fleet vehicle.
